If you really want to do it PM me your name and I'll for sure put it in any kind of explanation area they include for us. A&M and Kansas both had a 'please tell us why you're declining us' area on their 'do you want to attend?' forms. Maybe if enough people put your name in they'll review your file or something lol.

I was helping to select candidates for our cat colony husbandry positions a few months back, and we narrowed it down to 7 candidates for 3 slots, then asked them to write a little narrative about why they should be chosen for the job. One of them wrote his little thing and then also wrote that we should pick this other girl. My personal feeling on the matter was that it was a little...odd.... (the girl he was recommending was the top of the list applicant as far as I was concerned - I personally think he may have just been namedropping her).
I'm in! 🙂 Now, I've just got to decide if PBL is for me.

welp, looks like this boat ride is over for me. just got my rejection letter in the mail.
I am truly empathetic for all of those receiving rejection letters in the mail. I got them for two years from Western without even an interview before this year so I know how it feels! Take it from me, it does pay off to keep trying, and this year will not be wasted, you were meant to do something else in the meantime so make the most of it, then kick ass next year!!

I really appreciate the offer, but without knowing how the adcoms will take it I think I am just going to let fate run its course. Thanks for the offer though! I am just glad I found this forum everyone is so amazing and supportive. And congrats on your acceptances and finally making your very hard decision!

Has anyone recieved an email notification (accept or alternate) since the ones that were sent out on Friday? I know a couple of other people that haven't heard yet.
Also, were there any rejections sent via email? I know some people have gotten the letter in the mail on Saturday (which I'm sorry to hear about BTW).

Western and tuskegee are the two schools that I have been accepted to this year. The facts that tuskegee is so much cheaper and much older and more established are the only 2 reasons why I'll probably go there. Is anyone else having to make this choice?

In all honesty, pick the school you feel you will do best at. That is where you should go. Go somewhere were you feel you can learn the best and succeed in the four years you will be there. Whatever choice you make will be a great choice because you will have gotten your DVM! Congrats on your acceptances. 😀

I am not having to make any choices because I was only waitlisted at Western but I am a big fan of pro/con lists. Go where you feel most comfortable, and if you'll be a nervous wreck for the next 4 years thinking about the money you could have saved at Tuskegee, then you aren't going to be comfortable at Western. With that said, if you think you can overlook that because Western's pro list is so much stronger then I'd say Western might be best. Weigh your options... only you'll know where you'll be most comfortable.
As a Western waitlister-- I hope you'll be happiest at Tuskegee!

Hey Western pulls off the list based on who's most similar to the candidate they're replacing right? So you only need to encourage a person to consider alternate offers if they're like you. 😉
i'm going to send in my letter on wed or thurs that i won't be going once i secure my spot for davis. i live quite close to the school so it shouldn't take too long for them to get it. hope someone here gets my spot. i was a nontrad applicant (majored in psych and literature in '07 ) not sure what else to write for those wondering if they'll match up with me. good luck!

I was in your position two years ago. I ended up going to western and it was the best choice for me. Yes Tuskegee is older and more established but there facilities also show this. They also perform terminal surgeries that I was against. Yes Western costs more, but you get much more clinical experience and are practice ready when you graduate. I have already performed my first spay and castration and I am only finishing my second year. You should make your choice based on what you want to get out of your education, put the cost out of your mind for a minute and pick the program that is going to work best for you. These were just a few of my reasons for attending Western and I was making this choice before they recieved their full accredation. Good luck with your choice!
