Soo.... over at our lowly and oh so humble PRE-Dental forums haha
we've been doing some polling and debating over whether some of us should choose Western or USC.

As you can see from the thread link there's been some ideas going back and forth but it's still pretty divided so all of us were wondering if you had the mighty DENTAL students had any input or ideas

thanks for any information and help you guys!

I say USC.
Long history and strong alumni connection.
If you are planning to practice in so cal, definitely USC.
The neighborhood around Western seems dead. Very isolated.

I'm biased because I go to Western and I love it there. I love that the faculty really care about you and you aren't just a number. I love the new equipment and buildings that we get to use. I love that they put a handpiece in our hands starting in the second week of school. I love that we all work together and try to help each other out - there's not a supercompetitive unfriendly vibe here. There are some fun things to do in Pomona (wine bars, a theater where they have a lot of excellent bands come play, some good restaurants and bars, etc), but there's a TON more to do within 15 minutes of Pomona in Claremont, Upland, Chino Hills, and Rancho Cucamonga (most students live in these cities). I have been very happy here and am glad that I chose Western over some of the other schools I was accepted to.

Really though it comes down to where you think you'll be happiest. It's a personal preference thing. You'll get a good education and be a good dentist no matter where you go to school.
