Hi, I'm a new member. Hello everyone.
Do you think that getting a 51 in a course (just got a final mark), not having a thesis, and having a meh GPA (3.5) puts me completely out of the running for graduate school? I have no pubs. I have fairly decent research - but not supurb - experience. I think I'll have good letters.
I am in my junior year.

Thanks guys

Am I to assume the 51% meant you flunked the class? Is your GPA still 3.5 with that? As long as its wasn't a core psych class (i.e., experimental) it's probably not that big a deal if your GPA is still 3.5. Try to take it over if you can though. Taken GRE yet? If so, what was the score? Area of interest? Will you have 3 strong letters attesting to research and academic skill? Is your Interest Psy.D or Ph.D? Just need a little more info.

In short, to be competitive for a mid-level Boulder model Ph.D programs- at least a 3.5, GRE of at least 1200 (preferably above), good, in-depth research experience (not necessarily pubs, but it helps), Strong letters of rec. All this will not get you anywhere though if you are not a good match for the program or the adviser you are looking to work/research under. This is generally minimum to be considered competitive.

Same for Psy.D (the good ones anyway) but research experience isn't as crucial. The professional schools are more lax on all of the above, but you amount a ton of debt.

Maybe you should ask the DCT that question. I'm pretty sure he can put it in perspective for you.
