Now that i got your attention

Would I be considered an FMG or IMG?

Say I graduate from a foreign med school but i am a citizen of another country other than the US, holding a valid US greencard and grew up in the states.

IMG by definition is a US citizen that graduates from a foreign medical school.
FMG: Foreign national that graduates from a non-US medical school.

That makes me a FMG. right? i'm a bit uncertain which category i fall under.

Also, does it really matter whether you are an FMG or IMG? is there box on the ECFMG certification form or the form used to apply for residency that says if you are an International graduate please specify which by checking either one of the following boxes FMG or IMG? 😳

Thanks that's what i thought but I wasn't quite sure.

Are all IMG's and FMGs treated the same or is there any bias that way as well. I know being an IMG, programs question why you went abroad instead of trying here. i suppose being an FMG (legal resident) who was in the states for a while would probably have the same issue. But is there any real IMG v.FMG? Or all considered the same way.

Okay i might have answered my own question. 😳
