Hey PT Community,

I was wondering which DPT programs have great nation-wide reputations as quality PT programs. Could anyone give me access to a list of quality, well respected PT programs? Preferably with small class size and in a location with nature nearby. Money isn't too important in my PT school decision-making.

Best,
Charlie, Pre PT

US News has rankings but the methodology they use to rank PT schools is pretty poor compared to how they rank B-Schools, law schools, etc. If forced to choose between a school at the top of those rankings that cost 40K per year and an unranked school that cost 1/3 of that I would definitely choose the latter.

Additionally I’ve always felt like first time pass rates on the boards are another good metric to look at when applying.

Let me rephrase this question. Could anyone give me access to a list of quality PT programs? Preferably with small class size and in a location with nature nearby. Money isn't too important in my PT school decision-making.

When I did my PT school research, I started out with locations I would want to go to school and looked at schools in that area. Two things matter when choose PT schools:
1. They should be accredited. (This is "quality")
2. Look at the first-time pass rates for the PT exam.
I would also look at employment rate if that is available.

Other than that, there are plenty of places that are "quality" programs! I wouldn't use the rankings on US News, they are not based on how good a program is so I wouldn't apply to a top school just because it's on that list. Make sure to look into it more! Good luck!

If you have the luxury of not worrying about cost then I would definitely just look at places where you would want to live, go visit the schools and see how it clicks with you... Different schools seem to have pretty drastically different vibes.

I would also echo however that if you are going to be responsible for the bill then just go wherever is the least expensive and has a decent 1st time pass rate/low attrition rate.

Try regis in colorado. There are so many schools im not sure if someone will have a list of all the schools close to nature which are "good" school. I look for NPTE first time pass rate, graduation rate and faculty to student ratio. They must also be CAPTE accredited and I prefer a school with a good cadaver to student ratio as well.
