I have a pending pub in Acta Radiologica. I had not heard of this journal before and was wondering what people thought of it. I am happy to have a publication regardless, but I am also curious. Thanks.

Radiology, Radiographics, Journal of Nuclear Medicine, European Journal of Nuclear Medicine (better than the American version)

Thanks. I'm not applying Rads, so it doesn't matter that much. Still, the journal did sound a little esoteric. I wonder if we chose it for submission b/c the senior author is on the advisory board?🙄

I've heard of Acta Radiologica but have never actually seen it.

Your question is pretty generic and hard to answer. Reputation is in the eye of the beholder. Is it a basic article? Translational? Clinical? Case Report? Different people who read those kinds of articles will have different respect for the different journals.

The one objective number that you can go on is Impact Factor, and one can argue about if it means anything at all. It tells you have many times on average a paper in that journal is cited over a period of 3 years (beginning the year after I think).

To answer your question: the impact factor for that journal is .9, which is very low. But in comparison Radiographics is about 1.0.

Thanks, Neuronix. Well, the "best" journal in my prospective field has an impact factor of 4.3, which does not seem incredibly high either. At least, when NEJM's impact factor, according to Wikipedia, is 51. Crazy.
