I transferred after 1 semester at a liberal arts school with a 2.64 GPA (no science classes) and did 3.5 years at my university where I graduated with a 3.64. Using that excel spreadsheet, my BCPM was a 3.43 and a 3.0 cumulative. I have a massively massive upward trend ending with a 4.0!
MCAT: PS 10, VR 10, BS 11

I have also been accepted into an MBS program at The Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton, PA. I'm unsure if I should go or not because I'm really not sure how much even a 4.0 would help me get accepted this cycle. I don't want to go if I don't have to. It's 32k...

I'm a NJ resident, and Caucasian.

Here are some of my activities:
1. Emergency Room scribe starting in December 2010 till present. Around 90-100 hours a month - so around 600h currently (estimated).
2. 2 years researching malaria for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) undergraduate research program. I wrote a thesis and did a 10-week summer program at NYU-SOM
3. Poster presentation at Tropical Medicine Conference in 2009
4. Tutored bio/chem/ochem for a semester
5. TA for molecular genetics of microorganisms class for 1 semester
6. Voluntary research in cell bio lab for a semester
7. Gave a lecture to high school honors bio students for an hour or so on malaria/research methods

Letters of Rec:
1. My HHMI mentor (associate professor)
2. Professor and Dept. Head (teacher I TA'ed for)
3. English teacher who I became really close with
4. MD from NYU-SOM
5. DO from ER I work at
6. Another DO from ER I work at

Here's my school list:
GWU
UMDNJ + UMDNJ Robert Woods
U. Vermont
Creighton
Drexel
Indiana University
U. Kansas
SUNY Upstate
Albany Med
NY medical college
Temple
TCMC

So I realized I calculated my GPA wrong! My overall is actually a 3.38!! I know it's still low but it's a massive change from a 3.0. My science GPA is still a 3.41.

I'd say you stand a decent chance at NJMS, a slightly lower chance at RWJ (because their class size is now capped at 100) and I can't say the others with confidence. If your GPA were 3.5+ I would say you have a solid chance since their avg matriculant is 3.6/31.5 but with your current scores and pretty solid ECs I would guess 75% chance of interview invite from NJMS and 40-50% chance of invite from RWJ. Once you get the interview at NJMS if you kill it, you stand a good chance. The MMI at RWJ will also just add a score to your file, so if you kill that you increase your chances too. Good luck bro (or sis)!

Thanks so much! I truly believe I have an excellent personal statement as well as excellent work/activities explanations. I think I'll have a pretty good shot at some interviews as long as I get past the GPA problem!

I'll take any other opinions as well! 🙂

So apparently entering a "W" for withdrawl in the excel spreadsheet decreased my GPA as well!

My real GPAs are cGPA: 3.40 and sGPA: 3.457!!! That's a huge change from a 3.0!!
