MY goal in life is to be a doctor i don't care if i have to study in Carribeans or US. I just want to be a doctor. I have had some major family trouble that affected my academic progress.
I am junior and retaking organic chem so hopefull that will change my gpa a bit. I haven't taken the MCAT but plan on it this june or may. SHould i just give up, i really don't want to go do post-bach or do masters.

Do you think i have a chance in any of the caribean schools. I am not really tfamiliar with any of them but anyone that accepts me and will be okay with california to practice would be okay with me.

You will need to do well on your MCAT. Upper 20's or low 30's.

If you can, retake all the premed courses you didn't do so well in. Or do a post-bacc to boost your GPA. And kick butt on the MCAT.

Do well on your MCAT, consider a post-bac program like Georgetown's SMP or Drexel's IMS.

i was in a similar situation....gpa of 3 and a MCAT score not to brag about. Plain and simple..I had fun undergrad...too much fun. I did a Masters in Microbiology(took a difficult course to show scholastic maturity) got a 3.5 which was a huge lift when it came time for interviews. Sure it all takes time but it can be done. I am soon to take my step 1 (3months) which means that I survived basic science. The first 2 years will filter out those who have it from those who cant deal. Its not easy but for me it was everything I enjoyed with the exception of Biochem. Even that course was not so bad. AUA is a newer school on the carrib market who is licensed in NY and currently working on Calif. The're reputation is growing really fast and have produced very high step 1 scores like a 266 last year!!!they do not stress the MCATs so much if you have something else to distract them. My F in Orgo1 before repeating the course was redeemed by microbial biochemistry on a grad level. So consider it.
there is still hope...I struggled undergrad but did quite well in the basic sciences...Its what you make of it

truthfully, regardless of the MCAT you will not get accepted to a US school. Carrib on the other hand you will be able to get into a carrib school with your stats and a low to mid 20 on the MCAT. not SGU, AUC or SABA, but you have a shot at Ross. Would more than likely get admitted at SMU, AUA and MUA.

doing a post-bac probally wont help, this guy is not getting anywhere in the states with a science GPA below 3. A SMP program at Georgetown or Drexel are very expensive and there is absolutely no guarrentee of admission. More than likely you will be in the same position you are in now but 60-70k in debt. If you really want to be a doctor graduate and then go to the carrib. Its not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

Retake all the courses you did poorly on. Review hard for the MCATs.
Good luck on your endeavors, bud.

Cheers,
👍
