Depends upon how limited they are. If you've never set foot in a hospital, and have no idea of what you're getting into, I'd low wait list you. You need to show us your altruism and humanity as well. A gap year might be useful for you.

I have about about 400 volunteer hours at a hospital, a couple months research with a publication, less than 50 hours of shadowing, internship at hispanic communications office, executive assistant to CEO (worked on multiple projects). If I add a couple more shadowing hours do you think my application is competitive enough?
