So this is my 3rd year in school, yet I am actually a senior but since I am doing a dual-degree in biology and psychology with a minor in history, I will be in school for 8 semesters. I'm also doing the honors program in my school. I'm going to be applying June 2013 to medical schools and take the MCAT in may. Based on my stats, I am worried I may not get in. I mainly take science courses now because I finished all my pre-reqs in high school via dual-enrollment with a 4.0 average. :scared:

NOW:
cGPA: 3.41 GPA (without counting the 29 credits at CC for dual-enrollment with a 4.0GPA)
3.67 GPA with cc grades
sGPA: (lower b/c of 2 C's in O chem and possibly another in physics this semester...not sure exact number though)
MCAT: may 2013
EC: 5 e-board positions in various organizations, volunteer 6hrs/week at a hospital since this past summer, work at a chiropractor office 20hrs/week taking x-rays, developing x-rays, talking to patients and taking pain levels, etc, work on campus with student organizations and managing them as well as helping new orgs get through the process (15-20hrs/week); I take 17-18 per semester and this semester Im taking 21. I also do biology and psychology research.

I'm so worried that my GPA will not allow me to get into medical school. What are my chances and how would med schools see my GPA since I always take a rigorous load and not easy classes at once...any advice would be appreciated!!! THANKS!

1. There is a forum literally called "What are my chances?"
2. My GPA was lower than that when I applied. It's generally easier to get solid grades in upper-level courses than lower-level "weed-out" courses, so keep trending that GPA up and you should be fine.

Well, first you should calculate your GPA with your CC GPA included. That is how AMCAS does it, so you should do it too. Then I will get back to analyzing everything else

I calculated my overall to be 3.67

I calculated my overall to be 3.67

That is way better than the initial GPA you stated. If I was you, I would study hard for the MCAT and maybe push the test date depending on when you finish school. If your classes end early May, then take the June date so you can have a solid two months of studying.

You should also add in some shadowing. I don't remember seeing you have any. You can do that over winter break or spring break.

If you get a 30+ on the MCAT and add in the shadowing, I don't see why you won't get accepted somewhere. You probably won't go to an Ivy league school, but you will be an MD.

LOR's from chiropractors are sometimes viewed askance.

And that is where the shadowing comes into play. Try to get a solid LOR from a physician and then a few more from professors.

Also, try to get a super high GPA until you apply. That will help erase doubts that you would not make it in medical school. A high MCAT score will also demonstrate this.

So my GPA will likely increase, but if I start shadowing in the winter semester and apply in the summer, will that be enough? And if I do get a good MCAT score (30+), then how good of a shot do I actually have? Also why would chiropracter LRO be bad, since it isn't like I want to be a chiropracter, but that I need money so my family is VERY disadvantaged and I have to help pay the bills as well as get somewhat of clinical experience...
