Hey all, new to this forum as far as actual membership...Ok, so here's my question. I have an interview to NOVA for feb 21. To put it simply, this is my dream school. My father lives in Florida, I will get in-state rates, and I love the city. If this helps, I got a 330, 340 TS, nothing under 320. 3.2 GPA in bio and chemical engineering. I also worked for 2 O.D. s over a year and half.
I feel I am typically good in an interview, and I know my reasons for going into optometry are the right ones. (grandmother nearly blind as she raised me, my own 6 eye surgeries). I guess a more general question is how many people get accepted after this, given it went well? If so, how long before one finds out? I am losing it over the stress of this. I tell my friends you'll never see another human being as happy as I will be when I get into NOVA! Can someone shoot me straight? Thank you!🙂

you got good stats, m8, but dont expect nova to be a "bed or roses" and i am saying this from experiences from other students there.

nova is a decent school to me, not the best and not the worst. just call fran a couple of days after the interview or they will mail you a decision.

this may sound like a shocker to you: Nova is my backup plan and i am only 10 min from the school. got an interview there next week.

i know you have a positive interest with them, thats good m8:laugh:. just dont put all your eggs in the nova basket, if you know what i mean.

What is this stuff that I've heard on here about wait-listing? Does this occur after an interview has taken place, or is the interview simply postponed to a later date. This all kind of freaks me out, knowing that it may take so long to get any kind of answer.Any input from those more informed?

What's so bad about nova ? besides the 10 courses/sem that someone else mentioned on another thread. I really would like to know.

Wait-listing happens after the interview. What this means is that either 1) the class is full OR close to full and they are waiting to hear to those accepted whether or not they choose that school. Once people reject their seat they will take those off the wait-list until the class is full. I guess you could consider the wait-list "partial acceptance" depending on what others accepted before you decide.

When your application is put on hold they postpone their decision to a later date it is usually because you are missing something very important in your application (OAT scores, grades) and they want to hold final decision on your application until they have everything in front of them. This can happen both before and after an interview. I was put on hold after interviewing because I hadn't taken my OATs yet. Usually you are put on hold if something is missing from your application OR they are waiting for new grades or new OAT scores or an essay addendum. You get the point.

Hope this helps.

NOVA is a private school. In state or out of state.. your tuition is going to be much higher than a state school. The difference between in state and out of state is minimal.

How the heck does NOVA get funding ? Don't they have the same faculties as most top uni's ? i.e. dentistry/law/md/od...
