Hey guys,
So here's some info:
White Female, First Gen. Russian Immigrant, have US citizenship
Physics, Biology, and Biophysics Major, Math minor
3.676 cGPA
3.64 science GPA
32 MCAT (11/10/11)
Taking GRE this summer
I'm interested in doing an MD/PhD with a PhD in a field of medical physics or engineering. I've had a significant upward trend since I started working on my physics major and math minor after a bit of a stumble sophomore year. My MCAT is a bit low for MD/PhDs, but I'm hoping to still have a chance at some top tier schools. Or possibly just some plain top tier MDs. I'm particularly interested in the Harvard HST program
Research:
Pre-health award: $2,500 awarded to up to 5 pre-health students at my school. (My school is swarming with pre-meds) for academic excellence and commitment to pursuing a health profession
Sigma-Pi-Sigma award: for excellence in physics
Also I'm planning on taking a gap year. My plan is to try to return to NASA for a year in their Space Medicine division. If this fails, I am applying as a research tech/assistant to med schools.
Do I have a shot at an MD/PhD program?

Research:
- Some small poster projects during sophomore and junior year, presented at undergrad research conferences, not publication worthy
- NASA summer 2015 intern- Lifetime Surveillance of Astronaut Health intern, working with lots of medical records, did an oral presentation on it at the end as all the interns do, and presented my findings to the Medical Operations Group at NASA. Presented a poster of the research at the NASA Human Research Program Investigators Workshop conference.
- I've been working with the Radiation Oncology department at my school's medical campus for the last year and will probably try to publish at the end of the summer. Will also go to a few conferences to present posters, on the two projects I've been working on.
- 160 clinic volunteer hours, chosen as the first Volunteer of the Month Spotlight when they started the volunteer of the month program
- Shadowed at a Level 1 Trauma center in Houston -about 28 hours
- Co-founder and co-president of a club at my school. (Not medicine or science related)
- I am part of the Aerospace Medicine Association and have attended the last 3 conferences at my own expense. I am the Career Development Committee Chair.
- Aerospace Medicine Student and Resident Organization- treasurer and membership coordinator, and mentorship committee chair- working on starting a new mentorship program within the organization
- Highschool Aerospace Scholars Mentor at NASA
- Former U.S. Group National Team Rhythmic Gymnast, now work part time as a coach, and I perform with the circus.
