Ok, I know that there are MANY threads like this. But I would reallly like to know what my chances are with these DAT scores. Also, my GPA is a 3.2 with a sGPA 3.15. This is including a post-bac education. Yes, they are pretty low. I received a 3.86 post bacc GPA with total of 30 credits.

.................................................. ......Percentile
Perceptual Ability 22 ......................... 93.4
Quantitative Reasoning 19................. 91.2
Reading Comprehension 19............. 52.2
Biology 24 ....................................... 98.9
General Chemistry 24 ..................... 97.7
Organic Chemistry 29 ...................... 98.9
Total Science 25 ...............................99.5
Academic Average 23....................... 98.7

This is the third time that I have taken the DAT. I don't think that I will ever take it again. I'm quite satisfied with getting a 25 (99.5 percentile) on Total Science.

On an inspirational note, I want to let you guys know that anyone can make it in the 99th percentile region on the DAT as long as you work hard. I lived like a hobo the past semester just grilling myself with the DAT. I sacrificed fun, sleep, and even the physical fitness of my own body. I watched bunch of videos of Floyd Mayweather and listened to many motivational speeches to motivate myself pretty much all the time . If you slack off, you will regret it on test day. Most of all, I prayed and asked God to work in me. I don't even have a major in science. I am an Asian Studies major and a chemistry minor. The DAT is DOABLE!

But please offer your opinions on what you think of my chances of getting an interview/acceptance. Thank you.

How great were your improvements from the first two times you took the DAT? The DAT score you received, imo, is very good! I think that you have a good chance, but I'm not sure how the three-times-taking-the-DAT thing might work out.. but for "a" dental school, I think you'll be fine 🙂

Well done! I would think that your smokin' DAT and impressive post-bacc GPA will help you a lot. How much of your post-bacc was science credits? That's what will really make the difference.

Thank you. I used Kaplan tests and topscore for practice tests. I kept on receiving 20-22 range. The last week and a half, I did two practice tests per day. For studying, I used Cliff's AP Biology, Kaplan Blue book, and Chad's work problems. For specific studying, I used my O.Chem, Gen. chem, and gen bio books. My first two DAT scores were 17 and 18 AA.

All my post bacc courses were upper sciences.

I realize that my DAT scores are good. I am just worried that my GPA will hinder me. I have done the normal extracurriculars (shadowing dentist, hospital volunteer, habitat for humanity, etc.). It's just that my GPA is low. I worry a lot.

You're post-bac is respectable and demonstrates that you can handle a heavy science load and your DAT is great. I think if you apply broadly, with some safety schools you should be fine. Good luck!

wow I think you are going to get into alot of dental schools assuming you apply to the right ones. by the right schools, i mean if you apply to the ones that are in your state and the ones that accept outta state students. good luck dude!!!!!

Thank you for the confidence. I must say though that these post bacc courses have been taken spread out, meaning that I did not take them all in one year. It took two years for me to take these thirty credits because of work and not enough upper biology classes to take at this school. I can picture someone saying, "Well, anyone could make As if they took two or three classes a semester." Do you think that dental schools will think that I did not have enough courses in a semester to have a workload?

Your DAT score and post-bacc scores are going for you, your undergrad GPA is a little low. I would say that as long as you apply to 10+ schools, have good letters of recommendation, and write a great personal statement you should be fine. You've done all you can academically so I think you should be expecting an acceptance this fall/winter.
