I am really worried about my chances of getting in and could really use the advice. As I already stated. I got a crappy 26O 🙁 on the MCAT's , my science gpa is 3.80, my overall is 3.91. What do you guys think are my realistic chances of getting in. I looked at some of the profiles here and it seems people with stats similar to mine got in somewhere, but I am still really, really nervous 😱 . ANY ADVICE IS HELPFUL. Thanks a bunch!!!

I think with a 26, assuming you're not an underrepresented minority (basically black or hispanic), you should think of applying DO. The problem with applying to MD schools with a 3.8/26 is that many adcoms will conclude there's severe grade inflation at your school and that you didn't really deserve the 3.8 you have. Your options are:

Retake the MCAT in August, study really hard to get at least a 30 and apply MD.

Don't retake the MCAT, apply DO.

DO is an option, but I wouldn't necessarily give up on MD schools either. What are your state schools like? There are some schools with MCAT averages of accepted students less than 30 for in-staters, so you could still potentially be within the low end of their average range. It depends on where you live and what kind of school you want to attend. Of course, you would need impressive extra-curriculars, research, letters of recommendation, etc., and probably a little luck. It's definitely a long shot with your score, but don't give up. Consider DO schools, but apply MD if that's what you really want and retake the August MCAT to increase your score and your chances. Good luck.

Take it again. Different MCAT tests give different results. I know of plenty of people that got a mid-20 and then got a low to mid 30. That test sure is reliable...NOT.
