Hi, I'm pretty unfamiliar with the criteria necessary for getting into dentistry (especially US schools) so please forgive me if I say anything obviously *****ic : )

Ok, I'm graduating this year with BSc in Biology (Canadian school). My cumulative GPA is 3.82, although its brought down pretty heavily by 3.25 in my first year. I think my science GPA would be a little closer to 4, although I'm not sure exactly what it is off hand. I haven't taken the DAT yet.

I know that's not a tonne to go off of, but do I have any chance at any Canadian schools? Or American schools for that matter? How hard is to get in US schools if your out of state? Can anyone suggest any schools that might be a good choice in that regard (ie; friendly to Canadian applicants).

My first choice is Canadian schools (for money reasons) but I get the impression the competition for seats is pretty tight up here.

Any feedback would really be appreciated.

You're chances are actually very good! Western would look at your best 2 years, so that's even better. If you're planning on applying to the states, write your dat's this summer, and apply this summer. For the canadian dat's you'd have to wait until November, and apply October-December.
btw, where did you do your undergrad, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks so much for the reply.

I did my undergrad at Dalhousie.
