It is May 1st, and I am offically waitlisted at GWU, UMB, and USC. From what I understand, up to this point, all the incoming class for PT schools are already full meaning that people have offically accepted, declined, and paid $500 tuition deposite. The only chance for me to be accepted is that if someone decides to withdraw the last minute. The director of admission said that I am on the top of the waitlist. However, realistically, how many people would cancel their offer after paid the $500 already? Even if they did get a better offer, shouldn't they already gotten back to their backup school that they would no longer go there by now? I don't mind to wait, but sometimes I wonder if such opportunity would arrive. If you were/are on the waitlist, or declined an offer after accepting it, would you please let me know the proximate time period it occured? What are the odds for people to change their mind? Thanks a lot!!!

Hey, unfortunately it can be hit or miss so it's hard to tell BUT definitely still possible if you're at the top of the wait list. I was in your shoes 3 years ago. I applied to 2 schools, was wait listed for both (my GRE scores weren't the greatest), but was the top of the wait list on one of them. I was so stressed out during the whole waiting process. I interviewed in early Feb....and it wasn't until July when I found out someone changed their mind! Now I am in my last clinical internship in PT school and have been offered a few killer jobs and a few more are asking for interviews! So, yes, a lot of people put down deposits, but sometimes are not 100% sure they want to go to PT school. Some accept a school (as a backup) while they are wait listed for another and at last minute get accepted to the one they ultimately wanted. Hopefully it will work out for you!

It could happen, I paid a $300 deposit at University of Pacific and turned it down after I was accepted in cheaper state school.

In the short term, it cost me $300, but in the long term, I save $70,000 in tuition.

All you can really do is wait

MinnDasota and crockdub, thank you so much for replying my request. It does bring a good comfort for the moment. Although I do need to be realistic with the situation, it is really a 50/50 chance either hit or miss. If I am this close to the top of the waitlist, do you think I would have a better chance of getting in next year?

are you positive people have even paid deposits yet at all of those schools? for me personally, accepting the position i was offered from my school was just that.. accepting it. sending in paperwork saying i was accepting it, get a physical and the hep B series, etc. there was no money put down until a few weeks before the program started in the fall.
