Hey all,

So my gpa is quite low (2.93 overall, 3.09 sgpa). This was mainly due to a really bad sophomore year in the chemistry program where I received many C's and D's. I have a strong upward trend form my sophomore year. Freshman - 2.92, 3.38 sci, Soph- 2.41, 2.45 sci, Junior - 3.46, 3.46 Sci (got 1 D in another chem course that is killing me, but in the past 2 semesters avg'ing a 3.8 or so). I have a 30Q on the mcat, 11PS, 10VR, 9BS. I'm a resident of Ohio, and I go to UWO in ontario, a fairly good school. I have been fairly involved in school clubs, as well as tutoring. I am also currently doing clinical research with a urogynecologist who is also a professor at a medical school who I plan on getting an LOR from. I only have A's and B's in all of my biological science courses(took MCAT before taking all of these). I'm not sure exactly what my chances are, I figure I can apply to state schools and send them updated transcripts throughout the process. I was also wondering whether early decision would be a good option for me or not. I was also wondering whether I should rewrite the MCAT, I'm fairly sure I can do better on PS and BS, but somewhat worried about VR score dropping. I figure I could also send these in once I get my scores back because applying early seems to be very important. Any help/advice would be great.

Thanks!

Hey, I don't want to sound negative but with your gpa it could be really hard to get in to any allopathic school unless your state schools are very forgiving. Improving the MCAT would help but I doubt schools are going to completely look over GPA. I would recommend doing some kind of post-bac program to raise your gpa.

I was told that 2 of my state schools are a bit forgiving and place lots of emphasis on the MCAT. Their MCAT avg's are 27 and 28 I believe so I am above average in that respect.
