Hi! First time on SDN after getting my MCAT score back.
I was wondering what my chances were at MD/DO and what schools would be good for 2017 cycle. For DO, KCUMB is my dream school!
non-URM, female
MCAT: 506 (125/126/126/129)
cGPA: 3.32 (upward trend?)
sGPA: 3.35 (upward trend?)
ECs:
1.two publications authorships in good journals
2.around 750hrs as a research assistant
3. around 1500 hours as a medical assistant for an ENT
4. 5000+ hours of volunteering (teaching economics to underserved area 3rd grade, big brother big sisters, at an ER)
5. 6 presentations at national conferences
6. graduate of a lower tier state university
7. School club president

Thank you!

@Goro @gyngyn? Seems like you're the best to ask!

I suggest:

Rush
NYMC
Creighton
Albany
Rosy Franklin
Drexel
Temple
Loma Linda (but read their list of don'ts)
MCW
St. Louis U
WVU
Jefferson
Tulane
Loyola
U Miami
Wake Forest
VCU
Netter
Oakland-B
Uniformed Services University/Hebert (just be aware of the military service commitment)
Any DO program. I can't recommend Touro-NY, LUCOM or Wm Carey, for different reasons
Your state school(s).

Im kinda a non trad since it took like 7 years for me to graduate but the break down for cGPA is
F: 3.1
Soph: 2.8
Jun: 3.3
Sen: 3.5

Should be enough for DO schools. This IS a tough one. It's a V shaped curved, but it's not 3.1 -> 2.8 -> 3.9 ->3.9, which is the ideal.
OP should consider taking a post-bac during the app cycle, in re-consideration.

Is that significant enough for adcoms to consider as an upward trend?

Okay. I'm totally okay with DO so maybe I'll apply to DO this year and work on my post bac in case.
Thanks guys!!!!
