Hi everyone!

So, I'm just trying to get a feel for my chances and what schools I should be looking at applying to. Here are my stats:

cGPA - 3.31
sGPA - 3.11
MCAT - pending. I am in the process of studying for the June 20th date. I am shooting for a 28+, hoping to break 30, which I think is reasonable for me based on my studying/practice tests.

I live in/am from the midwest but am definitely not opposed to going just about anywhere. I am graduating from a large public university. It took me 6 years to graduate (yeah, I know) BUT I do have a double major in Psychology and Biology, as well as a minor in Chemistry. I also went to a small and very expensive (hence the reason I transferred my sophmore year) private university for my first year of college and wasn't necessarily sure what I wanted to do at that point, this school was on a quarter system instead of semester, issues with credits transferring, blah blah blah.
And as for the other extra year, I had a family member in the hospital with a serious condition during my last semester, and was subsequently in the hospital myself. Therefore, I had to take F's in 5 credits total and needed just a few credits to retake/finish up this last year.

On to the EC's...
Shadowing:
Primary Care - 50 hrs
Psychiatry - 35 hrs
Pediatrics - 20 hrs
Am also currently working full time as a medical scribe in a small family practice clinic, have been since August 2012 and plan to stay until around June 2014. (So I will have a gap year). Therefore, I am literally shadowing a doctor every day for 8 hours, plus gaining clinical experience.

Volunteering:
Volunteer with a women's health clinic for 4+ years, doing various outreach activities, about 5 hours per month?
Phone counselor at an anonymous crisis call center for 1 year, about 4 hours per week
Various other volunteering at free clinics, HIV clinic, etc. for about 4 years

-Also a part of a 2 year internship program done through my university, which is basically designed to be a "pipeline" to the state medical school. Is for pre-meds interested in practicing medicine in underserved communities - had to go through an interview process, is quite selective.
As a part of this, I had 2 full time internships during 2 summers, one of which included being part of a research team at the state medical school. Also included bimonthly seminars, shadowing a doctor that was your "mentor" each semester, volunteering, etc.

I have several great LOR's to choose from: 2 DO's, 1 MD, pre-med committee, 2 science professors, 1 non-science professor, mentors from my internships.

So.. I know I have a few deficits. Obviously I haven't taken the MCAT yet, but assuming I get a 28+ and submit right when I get my scores. (I know this is sort of taking a gamble, but I was bad at organizing when to take the MCAT with working full time and having full time internships during the summer). I know my GPA's aren't the greatest either. I am looking at primarily DO's but I will apply to my state school and other MD programs if you guys suggest any.

So.. chance me? Help me make a reasonable school list?

Unles you're a URM, applying to MD schools will be a waste of time unless you score a rock high (>35) on the mCAT. Even then I'd say apply only to your state school, and perhaps the lowest-of the low tier MD schools.

For DO, you're fine.
