So I am really wondering if I need to retake the DAT or if my scores are sufficient. I took the DAT on March 21st and here are my scores

I am wanting to apply for this upcoming cycle and my sGPA is 3.71 and my overall GPA is a 3.76.
Based on all of this do you think a retake is necessary? Also I am from North Carolina and want to stay in-state if possible so UNC would be my first choice and ECU my second. If anyone has history with either of these two schools any information would be much appreciated. I have looked at class profiles for each of these school and for UNC my DAT scores are a little lower than the average but my GPA is higher, is the GPA enough to offset the difference in DAT scores?

18/18/19... Maybe not for ECU, yes for UNC. The DAT averages keep going up every year. Your GPA is higher than the average, but not by too much. I would honestly suggest a retake. That 16/17 in the sciences alone raises red flags.

🙁 I'm sorry! I know it stinks. However, I wouldn't want to close any doors at this point. Do you have some MEGA extracurriculars going for you?

That is what I figured, I REALLY want to go to UNC so I thought that I would need a retake. I wouldn't say I have any mega extracurriculars, I have shadowed dentist, I am on the executive board of a fraternity at school which contributes to many volunteer hours as well as leadership skills, I have been to two MOMS clinics, I work a full-time job over the summer where I am the assistant manager and work with customers everyday (leadership/communication skills), I also played college football and paint boats (manual dexterity). So I wouldn't say anything over and above what others would have.

Those are some good ECs! Try to squeeze in a few more MOM clinics if you can--ECU (in particular) really loves them.

Are you sure you used all of the right materials to study? Check out the DAT breakdown collection in my signature. I know it will suck to prepare again, but hey, at least you know what to expect! 🙂
