What do you guys think my chances are? Any advice?
I have two C's in my pre-reqs: a C in physics 2 and a C in Gen Chem 1. The rest is a solid mixture of A's and B's. I have two pre-reqs left to complete: Orgo and Microbio. I'm praying I get into UMES with an early decision application! Has anyone got into UMES or is anyone currently attending their program?

Orgo and microbio as pre-reqs? @__@

Seems fine to me. If you don't get in this time for some odd reason, then obviously change those C's

Retake those classes with the C's. Small investment worth the payoff. Take them at a CC in the summer and you'll be better off for ED. And if that doesn't work at least you'll be better prepared for other schools. 2 classes now or wait another year to start.

Hi cg11092,

I'm a current student at UMES! The majority of us doesn't lurk around this forum. Haha. How did your application process turn out?

Has anyone done the GAAP program that you know of? Is it worth the $500? I'm considering it. I start the DPT in the fall at Hampton University.

I didn't take the workshop so I can't speak from experience. However, some of my classmates who did spoke positively of it. Prior exposure helped them become familiarized with dissection techniques, had a unique view of fresh cadavers compared to embalmed ones typically found in dissection lab, got used to the sight and smell (lol), some other things I can't remember... There will be an observable difference in dissection skills and knowledge between those that had taken the program and those that didn't during the first couple months of class. Nevertheless, everyone will be on the same page at a certain point depending on the quality of your program and personal effort.

In essence, if you'd like an extra edge prior to matriculation and don't mind the costs (remember to factor in housing, transportation, and miscellaneous costs), the yes. However, if you are like the majority of people (i.e., me) who would prefer to relax before starting classes, then no. Keep in mind that leisure times are generally hard to find once you start.

In retrospect, I probably should have given more weight to the benefits of the program even though I ended up doing well in anatomy. These are just my humble opinions, and results can vary. Hopefully, they help you make an informed decision and pick the best option for yourself 🙂

I would do it if it were free or cheap. But 500 bucks plus additional costs would definitely dissuade me. I'm already paying 75 grand for PT school! lol

And actually I don't have any break before PT school starts anyway...

Haha. 75 grand is not bad actually when comparing to some of the costs out there.

Just out of curiosity, how did you hear about the GAPP program @darrylerich ?
I found out about it from one of my future classmates on our class's Facebook group. I paid for it today so I will be attending. Didn't have to worry about housing because one of my friends live there, I'll be using his guest room. So it worked out.
