Hi, I am junior majoring in Exercise Physiology. I have low pre req GPA with couple of repeated classes. I will be getting my volunteer hours this summer. I will be taking all my major classes my senior year. What are my chances of getting into DPT school, a decent one. I live in Il. Also any DPT schools accept MCAT scores. I still need to take my GRE.

There are no PT schools that accept MCAT score as a replacement for GRE scores that I am aware of.

How "low" is your pre-req GPA? Give us your specific stats and we can help you more. See the "ACCETPANCES, ETC..." sticky at the top of this format if you need help on what information to include.

It's difficult to say what your chances are since you have not taken the GRE yet, and you have not yet taken your major classes. What is your Pre-Req GPA so far? A good strategy would be to concentrate on PT schools that take the higher of the repeated classes. If your last 60 credits put up a good GPA, you can also look for programs that consider your last 60 credits.

Most of the PT programs will require a GRE. Some do not (Ex: Pacific Univ. in OR). I am not aware of any PT programs that accept MCAT scores. I'm sure you can report it on the PTCAS application, but it is NOT a requirement for PT programs.

You can compare your stats with previous applicants in order to get a better sense of your application strength by looking at the very first sticky thread on the Pre-PT forum as well.

How? Put it as an extracurricular activity? lol

Oops! I thought there was a spot where you could enter extra test scores, but I guess GRE & TOEFL are your only options. Sorry OP!

You could attempt to list it as an extracurricular activity 😀
I'm sure studying for the MCAT took up enough extracurricular time haha.

Are these the pre-PT threads of the future: Should I take the MCAT for no good reason just to make myself stand out from all the other applicants?

lol :smack:
Take the DAT and the OAT if you have the time too. The consummate health professional. (Then change your name to BAYMAX.)

On topic: OP never provided stats.

Thanks everyone.
dalingil - I read your blog. You said you researched on the schools you applied. What did you look for most? I can see their pre-reqs, number of hours, cum-GPA. What else i need to look for? Are there any universities offering MPTs anymore.

But you apply to USA who accepts 150/year your chances go up significantly. So do your research and apply smart.

USA ACCEPTS 150!? Holy crap. I don't live anywhere near there so I never applied or researched USA but that's nuts. Do they break the class up somehow? That's 50% larger than my HS graduating class lol

Stats are extremely important but on the other hand where you apply is almost just as important. For example if you have low GPA and/or GRE and you apply to a school that takes 30/year your chances of getting in are slim to none. But you apply to USA who accepts 150/year your chances go up significantly. So do your research and apply smart.
Forgive my naive-ness, but USA? which school is that?

^^^University of Saint Augustine. Campuses in FL, TX and CA. Each campus starts a class 3x per year, so 9 cohorts enter every year.

USA has 3 campus in TX, CA, and FL. Each campus accepts 3 groups of 50. So there is a Spring, Summer, and Fall class and you are in a cohort of 50. So about 150 students per campus per year so if you factor in all 3 campuses they have 450 Students coming in every year. So your chances of getting accepted go through the roof compared to a school that accepts 30 to 60 per year. Its a great place to apply as a back up if you are worried about not getting in.

Oversaturation... :/
