Hello, I'm curious as to what my chances applying to DO schools only.

I have a 3.1 cGPA/3.0sGPA with a strong upward trend. I received a 29 on my MCAT (9P/10B/10V) and I have 100+ hours of shadowing, a year of research, and 500+ hours of volunteer hours working with the underserved. I have 3 STRONG LoRs (1 from a DO, 1 from a volunteer supervisor, 1 from a professor), hoping for one more from a professor before applying.

If it adds anything, my father is a DO as well.

can't say much on the gpa/mcat but i will say that most DO schools require the standard lor from 2 sci professors and 1 nonsci professors. some do accept the extra letters. see what your specific schools want.

Are you sure? I've checked quite a few schools (KCOM, AZCOM, LECOM, the Touros) and they say 2 science professors and a practicing DO.

My bad, I'm thinking MD. You're right, meaning you're missing one professor letter from the sciences (some take from nonsci) for a good bulk of schools.

If you can afford a retake or some for your gpa, that'd be nice. Otherwise, apply broadly and on time.

GPAs are weak but if you apply broadly, especially to the newest schools, I think you might get some love. Definitely apply to your dad's school!

I can't recommend LUCOM, and suggest skipping CCOM.
