My MCAT score is 502 (129/122/124/127) 60th percentile and my GPA is a 3.98. I have an Engineering degree and will be applying to medical schools next summer and will start it after finishing my Master's in Engineering. I have plenty of volunteering, shadowing, and even work experience in the health care field.
Should I apply to MD schools or DO schools or both? I am not aiming at Ivy League or anything. Sort of mid-tier schools in the mid-west/south. Please let me know of any schools I should *definitely* apply.

That verbal score will be to low for many schools and auto screen you out, make sure you check with each school. Your GPA Is great. What is your sGPA?

My sGPA is 4.0. My cGPA is 3.98. Do you happen to know any schools that would accept my low CARS score?

Your GPA is stellar. What happened on the MCAT? Did you study? Are you not good at taking standardized tests? If you didn't adequately prepare, you should consider a retake with that GPA.

I actually took a semester to study. I am so strong in Engineering/Math but not so much in Bio/Biochem. I am also not very good at CARS. I just hate it. I don't have the time to retake it considering I will be starting grad school soon and have a job. So the 502 is it! Lol
Like I said, I can't afford to go to ivy league super expensive schools. I aimed to cross the 500. 502 is not excellent by sdn standards but it is good enough for me! I just need to find schools that also believe it's good enough.

Check the MSAR for MCAT stats. You should really be aiming to be above the 10% threshold. The 502 will definitely hurt your chances, though - what's that, 50th percentile?

It's 60th percentile.

You are competitive for the majority of DO schools so apply broadly to at least 15 and you should receive several interviews. For MD try your state public schools and schools such as:
Quinnipiac
New York Medical
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
Creighton
Rosalind Franklin
The new private schools that will be accepting applications for 2018:Roseman, Seton Hall, Henricopolis, etc.)

Thank you so so much!! This was exactly what I was looking for. I appreciate it.

Quinnipiac, western Michigan and creighton dont accept internationals.

Try getting MSAR and double check how many internationals were accepted! If it's less than 3, don't apply

I have never heard of these schools. But thank you for the suggestions.
