Hello all!

I posted a while back, but I wanted some more feedback so I'm going to try this again.

Stats:

  • 27yr old mixed female (black and white)
  • Graduating May 2018 with my Bachelor's in Biology, minor in Biochemistry
  • GPA 3.5/3.6; High Science GPA, although I got one C in Gen Chem. Rest are A's
  • 6 yrs direct patient care in a private practice Urology group as a medical assistant
  • Lots of surgical shadowing hours with anesthesiologist and urologists.
  • Taking my MCAT in June, so no score for that as of yet.
  • Serving as a TA for Anatomy and Physiology for my school (last 2 semesters
I'd like to apply to SLU, Wash U, Mizzou and some IL schools as I am from the St. Louis area. My question is if I really do have a shot, and what other schools I should apply to. All feedback is appreciated 🙂

P.S. I prefer MD schools, I'm not really interested in a DO school.

Agree with Goro. IMO the MCAT is the number one factor at getting in although everything is important. The MCAT is the only standard that med schools have to compare everyone with differing schools, grades, and EC's. What school is harder to get A's at: your large state university, a small private college, or a big name like Yale?? Who knows, but the MCAT is standard for everyone which IMO makes it the most important factor.
