Hi! I'm just trying to figure out where I stand. I am intending on applying to D.O schools and have a 3.85 cGPA and ~ 3.2 sGPA. I recently took the MCAT in january and got a low score (I was in a car accident and had to move houses about 2 months before the exam and had also not taken biochemistry yet). I am a research assistant at a very big and well known hospital and am shadowing a D.O who attended the school I am intending on applying to. I've also shadowed genetic counselors and a few pediatric doctors. I plan on taking a Kaplan test prep course and then registering to take another MCAT, but still apply this cycle. I have a few questions.
1. Can I submit my application June 1 and have a low first mcat score with another pending mcat score or will the low mcat automatically screen me out or will the schools wait to review the second score ?
2. What are my chances of getting an interview based on my profile?
3. If I plan to take a 2nd mcat, should I take it early so I can get the score released early in the application cycle or apply June 1st and take the mcat in august after some more preparation and have the score released in September toward the end of the application cycle?

do you have any volunteering? what is your actual mcat score?

the score was 489 and I have a lot of volunteering with the genetics department at the hospital I do research at. I also have plenty of community health volunteer work and health fairs. I also interned at an up and coming community health agency at a hospital where I attended college. I also held leadership positions in the community health honor society at my university.

Are you urm ORM ?
That MCAT is a non starter. You will not receive a lot of consideration let alone an interview. I would take the MCAT, have the score and then apply.

I am already planning and registering for another mcat. My concern is when to take it. I want to take it again in June and apply to the schools in july once i have the second mcat under my belt, but I'm afraid it'll be too late in the cycle especially with rolling admissions

I honestly wouldn't rush it. With a first score like that, you need MAJOR improvement to be successful. I would recommend not trying to jam it in and apply this cycle, but rather spend as much time as necessary until you're consistently scoring 510+ and apply next cycle (2018) day 1.

Do not apply this cycle with your MCAT score, it will be a complete waste of money.
