I am making a schools list. Will apply both MD and DO. I am planning on applying to like 40 MDs and most of the DO schools. Please help with MD list and I am wondering what are my chances.

I suggest these MD schools with your stats:
All 4 SUNY's
Albany
New York Medical College
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Seton Hall
Penn State
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
George Washington
Georgetown
Virginia Commonwealth
Eastern Virginia
Wake Forest
NOVA MD
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
Medical College Wisconsin
Loyola
Rosalind Franklin
St. Louis
Creighton
You do not need to apply to all DO schools. Apply to 10 that appeal to you and that should be sufficient.

Thanks. Can I apply to Rush?

You need to buy access to the MSAR. You need to look at the state schools in the states you've targeted and determine what proportion of applicants and matriculants are OOS and if the odds are in your favor or not.

I understand that. I was just wondering if there are some state schools that are favorable for NY residents. But I appreciate the quick reply.

UConn and Rutgers are not good choices.

Why is that? What if I have one of my cousins/best friends in Jersey and growing up I spent a lot of time there. Are there any state schools besides the SUNYs that favor NY residents?

Are you applying this year?

Yes.

What percentage of OOS matriculants out of total applicants is considered favorable?

The number of NY matriculants is quite small for these choices.

UConn only matriculated 10 regular MD applicants from OOS. 11 states are represented in the incoming class. Therefore only one or two are from NY.
Rutgers matriculated 16 OOS and at least 6 states are represented.
NJ RWJ matriculated 24 regular MD from OOS. 10 states are represented.

It's not merely OOS matriculant, but the ratio of OOS applicants who get IIs, and then matriculate, compared to those for IS. Look at MSAR and compare Baylor, UCLA, SUNY-SB and the NJ schools vs EVMS, U VM, VCU and USF.

How can I make a list for osteopathic med schools to maximize my chances of acceptances?

You're fine for any DO school.
I recommend, working outwards from home:
NYITCOM
UNECOM
PCOM (both)
VCOM
MUCOM
CCOM
LMU
ACOM
KCOM
KCU
LECOM (both, but be aware of the class attendance and dress rules).

If you're willing to head further west, I can add to the list.

Thank you. I just want to apply to the 10 schools that I would have the best shot at. I am willing to go west as well.

I am thinking about what to do during my gap year and I am trying to decide between clinical research, scribing and a job at a pharmaceutical. What do adcoms recommend? What activity would be best to discuss in secondaries and during interviews?
