I would apply to your in-state MD schools at the very least. You definitely have great stats for DO schools as well.

Thanks, I was planning on doing wright state and Northeast Ohio. I looked up schools where the MCAT was a 509 or less and I was able to compile a list based on OOS acceptance being at least 25% or more and came up with this list. Thoughts on these schools...

south carolina greenville
south carolina columbia
west virginia
wayne state
rowan
central Michigan

I suggest:
Wayne State (maybe)
U Toledo
Seton Hall
Rosy Franklin
Loma Linda (only if you are SDA or a very devout Christian)
Loyola
WVU
VCU
U VM
Rush
MCW
SLU
Creighton
Albany
Oakland-B
Uniformed Services University/Hebert (just be aware of the military service commitment)
Netter
Gtown
GWU
Your state school(s).
Nova MD
Any DO school. I can't recommend Touro-NY, Nova, Wm Carey, LUCOM, for different reasons. MSUCOM? Read up on Larry Nasser and you decide. LMU has an accreditation warning, which concerns me.

Making lists is not my forte. Choose 5-10 DO schools and 5-10 of the schools from Goro's list of MD schools. Note the OOS tuition and be wary of any school that seems out of line with what you are willing to borrow. (See OOS tuition for UIC - which is not on your list- to understand my point.)

85% for DO 25% for MD
Ehh I would say his chances to MD schools are actually quite higher... most likely 50-55% with the highest chances at his in-state schools. His high GPA is helping him out a lot here. Just from historical statistics, "There are 4610 total applicants that applied with a GPA in the range of 3.80 - 4.00 and an MCAT in the range of 502-505. Out of those applicants, 2353 were accepted to at least one medical school." Helps that he's from Ohio

I appreciate the optimistic outlook, hopefully that results in an MD acceptance next cycle. I am confident I will go somewhere, I just don't know where.

Your ECs look really good (especially your high clinical hours and serving as an interpreter), so I would just say focus on making a killer Personal Statement and pre-writing your secondaries. You're almost a lock for DO, so there's always that.

I have gone through MSAR and have come up with a list to apply to based on my statistics. I looked for schools that had a 25% or higher out of state acceptance rate and those that weren't too far out of my MCAT range. Are there any schools on this list that I should remove (and why) or schools that I should add? Just looking for other opinions at this point. Thanks. and btw I am an Ohio resident.

@Goro Hey I compiled a school list from many of those that you listed, but there were others I felt that I was not competitive for such as VCU, SLU, GTOWN, GWU, Albany, and NOVA MD. My MCAT was below the 10th percentile for these schools. I know my GPA is competitive for these schools and I believe I have an overall well rounded app, but my MCAT is what is concerning me. Is there something that I am missing or should I just ignore those schools and apply to those where I am above the 10th percentile on MCAT.
