What are my chances?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Any primary care shadowing? What is your nonclinical volunteering? What URM group do you represent? Do you have proof of service to said group? At least two of the IL schools are huge in service to those less fortunate than yourself and Rush has very steep requirements for clinical and non clinical experiences( and from you shared you don’t meet those requirements). Where in Il do you live? SIU draws their students from a very specific geographic area. Do you live within that area ?

Apply to Loyola but work on your ECs. SIU usually take students from south of I80. If you can build a convincing case for a strong interest in rural medicine they might consider you. You could also look at the new school in Champaign. I think it’s Carle. They have an engineering focus but I don’t know what that means. Good luck.

Thank you for the advice! Could you provide any out of state options? I have been considering Tulane and Wake Forest.

Do you have the MSAR? If not buy it and do some research based on your stats to start. Find schools that yourvGPAs and MCAT are between the 10th and 90th percentiles of schools you are interested in. They give In/OOS stats etc.
