Your metrics should give you a strong shot for an MD-only list. Not a lot of physician shadowing, but you've reached the minimum 50 hour recommendation with some primary care included. I would cut your list down by eliminating a lot of the public schools where your OOS odds are really bad. Being from Michigan, your in-state schools should all be in play.

@Goro and @Mr.Smile12 I know about the service requirements and I would definitely want to do that if I am given the opportunity. I understand the requirement for the service and even if I do not get into the USU I was planning to do the HPSP regardless.

Also, for the DO schools, I want to apply because when I was shadowing the DO doctor, he was telling me about osteopathic medicine and that seems like something that I would really want to do, and I am not applying just because it might seem like a backup. One thing that really stuck with me when I was shadowing the DO is that even in the MD primary care the most common thing that people came in -at least from what I could tell is musculoskeletal pain- but the MD primary care doctor prescribed more opiates-albeit still very few- during a normal day than the DO. The DO doctor took the time to explain OMT and how it can help keep people from using opiates, and that is something that I think is a tremendous service to society. I decided to shadow a DO doctor late in this semester, and I really regret that as I should have shadowed more DOs when I could have, and that is the main thing that I plan to do when I can. I still want to apply MD to keep all possible avenues to me becoming a doctor open, but If I get lucky and get into a MD and DO school, I would have a really hard time making that choice as I stated I do not really care right now for a speciality and from the experience I have I would absolutely love to work as a primary care doctor, and Do schools seems to do a really good job in preparing students for that. Sorry for all the information, just wanted to explain my reasoning. I was wondering if yall could help me with a DO school list that does not require DO letters in 2020, or can direct me to a resource that does. I was also wondering if the low amount of hours shadowing a DO doctor would be a red flag in my application? Thanks for everyone's help so far, it has helped me a lot!

Hopefully you already have access to the AACOM admissions websites, including their school search database: Choose DO Explorer Registration - Choose DO . Start there and reach out to admissions recruiters and current students attending those schools. I think the information on that database should include whether a DO letter is required; if not, it's somewhere on that website.

For DO schools, in no particular order, I recommend:

PCOM
NYITCOM
LECOM
VCOM
CCOM (just watch tuition!)
AZCOM
DMU
KCU
the coastal Touros
Western
KCOM
VCOM
CUSOM

You will need research who requires a DO LOR

@Goro thanks for your help! I was just wondering would you recommend me applying to DO schools as soon as the application opens, or should I wait until I can get more DO shadowing and a DO letter to apply? I just do not know when this will be due to the current situation.

I think that you'll have time to get the shadowing in and the LOR. The DO cycle is longer and you'll be OK even with an Oct/Nov app.
