I took my DAT last saturday, and found out that I was even more unprepared than I had thought. I wasn't really prepared at all. It's hard for me to share this, but I got 15 academic and 13 overall. I already plan on studying harder and retaking the DAT, but I was wondering if I have a chance of getting in for this application cycle. I'm worried that schools will see these first scores and simple throw out the application. Any thoughts??

sorry my friend i would say you have almost no chance this cycle, i would not waste the money... but maybe others will have a more positive outlook... i say study hard and be ready for the next cycle...

You still have time to take the DAT for this cycle. I know NYU takes DAT scores up until April or so.

You definitely need to get that score up. Im not sure what your GPA is, but you should be aiming for 18 or higher.

Sorry, but for this cycle, I dont think you have much of a chance to be honest. I say you retake the DAT when you feel ready (dont rush it) and re-apply next year, you should be ok. Besides, you will be more mentally removed from this low score and you will hopefully have a much higher score to rely on.

unless your GPA is super star status... near 4... you might get a shot this year ...thats only if you take the DATs again... soon... there's always some schools that take on students late into the application cycle... but definately those scores will not get you a second look... but now that you know what the test is about... no doubt you will do much better!

trust me 3 months of good studying 6 hours a day, 5 times a week...and you can do well on the DAT's...I would try really hard and do well...when it comes to interviews, just say I took the first one to gauge the test and my abilities with minimal studying before I started studying...I mean if you work the next test, you have proven yourself and what are the adcoms gonna say?
