Hi guys! Please give me an honest review (nicely). Maybe even suggest some schools? Here is my app:

MCAT: 507 (128/126/127/126), (I got a 500 in 2020)
uGPA: 3.06 upward trend
M.Sc GPA: 4.0
***I'm Canadian***

Things about me:
-Female
-Lesbian
-Middle Eastern Arab
-Rural my entire life

-My MSc is in organic synthesis, specifically antibiotics. I've made compounds that have never been synthesized and published before. I've been testing them on several strains (in collaboration with the microbiology department). I expect some pubs once I defend and can work on the manuscripts
-I've also JUST submitted my first paper, waiting for publication approval

Work/Activities:
-mutual aid community assistance (cooking meals with my friends and then splitting up to deliver them around the city) (68 hours)
-Science rendezvous, which is a science outreach program (2 years in a row)
-Science gallery volunteer at museum (30 hours cut short because covid)
-Volunteering at a health centre with residents that have dementia, Alzheimer's (100 hours)
-Chemistry club at my University (30 hours worth of "volunteering" like manning the bake sale stand, etc)
-7 poster submissions to 4 different conferences, 3 poster presentations
-Research assistant, analytical chemistry and a collaboration project with the history department at my school (140 hours)
-Lab instructor (intro bio, intro chem, biochem) (900 hours)
-Hockey (670 hours, since I was 8 years old)

-I have VERY VERY strong references, but NO physician LOR. My LOR's come from 4 science faculty.

I think my essays have been good. I've talked a lot about my personal experiences (immigrant parents, sibling with addiction, death of several family members, inaccessibility to basic health care b/c rural, discrimination from a doctor for my sexual orientation, etc). I won't get into it too much but I'm trying to give you an insight on to my essays.

I think thats all...I appreciate anyone who reads this. Thank you!

Your application comes across better for PhD programs than for medical school. Aside from volunteering for a bit at the health center, it seems you have no clinical experience with patients or physician shadowing.

The masters GPA doesn’t really help show you are a better student since it sounds research based.

You could receive interviews at some DO schools with your stats. However, you need 50 hours of physician shadowing (including DO and primary care) and another 100+ hours of clinical volunteering with patient contact before you apply. Once you have accumulated those hours you could apply in June 2023 and I suggest these schools:
KCU-COM
MSUCOM
NSU-KPCOM
Touro-NY
UNECOM
WCU-COM
Also check with the new schools (Noorda-COM, KHSC-COM, RVU-Montana and NYIT-Montana) to see if they accept applications from Canadians.

Oh no… Now I’m stressed out. I did apply this cycle to a couple DO and some MD’s. It’s really hard to find shadowing opportunities where I’m located. I truly appreciate your feedback! Am I screwed this cycle?

Yeah I spent a while trying to redeem my crappy undergrad GPA, and now I look like a PhD applicant!
