Any thoughts on my chanes of getting accepted...

I was a 2002 graduate of a small Liberal Arts school. I earned a B.S in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. 3.246 cumulative & 3.1 science GPA, and all pre-reqs complete. My MCAT scores are horrendous, 20P. For two summers in college, I worked in the med rec department of a small orthopedic group and got to shadow one of the physicians once every two weeks. Upon graduating, I didn't feel I was qualified enough to compete, although I've wanted to be a physian since my own bout of Wolfe-Parkinson-White Syndrome high school.

For the past two years, I've worked as and epidemiologist in the Communicable Disease Program of a Local Health Department. Working in Public Health truly has been an amazing experience. Aside from my daily duties of communicable disease surveillance, I'm currently working on a cancer incidence study, and I even spent a month working on an outbreak with a team from the CDC. My time at the Health Department has been completely awesome and I've developed a serious interest in becoming an Infectious Disease Specialist. I'm open to osteopathic or allopathic...just getting in would be nice! Further, I'd like to earn an MPH as well.

I'd appreciate any feedback (+ or -) from the masses on the liklihood I'll be accepted. Thanks!!

With a 3.2 and 20, I would say your chances are very slim. I'd suggest an intensive post-bacc and raising that mcat at least 10 points. Regardless of experiences, numbers do count.

nobody here can tell you exact likelihood of admission, but the consensus would be that your chances are slim to none.

get that mcat up 9+ points, and do a 1-2 year post bac or special masters program and ace that, and your chances will be astronomically higher than what they are now. you have to have at least the base numbers; everythnig else is just icing on the cake. strategically pick the schools you will apply to. if your state school has a high %age of the class coming in from Early decision programs, consider doing that. be sure to get excellent letters of recommendations, write an excellent personal statement that articulates clearly how you qualify to be a doc, and why you wnat to be a doc, experinces that shaped your decisions, etc. APPLY EARLY!

those are the basics. i wish you luck!

Sorry dude, low chances. Ever considered DO? Good day.
