I'm going to apply for Caribbean med schools, aiming at the "big 4". Here are my stats:

cGPA: 3.1
Science GPA: 3.2
MCAT 1st time: 30M
MCAT 2nd time: 26L

I'm thinking about taking MCAT a third time in May 2011. Any thoughts about whether I should take MCAT again or not? Do Caribbean med schools care about the Writing scores? What are my chances to get in if I don't take MCAT again?

Your stats are ok for the BIG 4...Don't even bother retaking the mcat...You might as well apply to DO schools with your stats.

agree with previous post. your stats are acceptable to big4. but i think you might be better off applying to us med schools such as a DO (unless you're not a us citizen). always consider carribean schools as the last and final option.

I'm not US citizen, so it seems Caribbean med is my only choice🙁

i recommend you to apply as early as possible. your cgpa and sgpa are 3.0+ and your first mcat being above 30 are good stats for admission. aug cycle tends to be competitive so the faster you submit your application you have a shot.

Thank you for your advice! But how fast is fast? I think by the time I get my LORs in place, it will be almost Christmas. Is it a bad time to submit application because no one is working during that time?

no prob. submit your application before the end of this year or early jan for aug 2011. even if you submit your application say christmas, it doesn't matter. admin ppl are still working around the holidays b/c jan 2011 class will be starting soon.
