Overall GPA: 3.6
Science GPA: 3.6
GRE: average
Volunteer hours: 600 (orthopedic center, hospital with a variety of patients, nursing home)

What are my chances of getting into a DPT school?
How many places should I apply (the school I want to go to, based on what I can tell, would only accept on a minimum what I have. i dont know what other schools are like)

edit: I haven't actually taken the GRE yet but plan to soon lol
edit: thanks for the responses everyone!! and sorry about being repetitve, im new to the forums and didn't know how often this was asked.

all right! another one of these questions! lol nah just kidding...

Your chances are pretty good. Don't worry. GPA looks fine to me, but higher never hurts anyone to be more competetive.

GRE. What exactly is your definition of "average". To stay competetive, I recommend a GRE above 1100.

Volunteer hours look good! Way more than I had. Just to be careful, I'd get some acute care volunteer. Not sure if the hospital you volunteered at was an acute care facility.

Overall, you have nothing to worry about grade-wise!

Hey, I had about the exact same stats but a 1200 on GRE and about 400 hours volunteer over 4 settings... Depending on what pre reqs schools looked at I ranged from a 3.3 science gpa to a 3.7 lol( I suck at chem but ace physics and a anatomy lol).. I applied to 11 schools and got rejected by 3, accepted to 6, and pulled my other apps.. All were pretty top notch schools.. So I would say you look good.. I was terrified because I had heard horror stories but if you have good essays, lots of extra curriculars, and can talk and have something interesting ton say during an interview, I would say you are good!!!,

Looks good to me! Some pointers: Study Barron's GRE test prep instead of Princeton Review's. Also, make sure to schedule enough time in advance to take it twice, because you're score almost always increases the second time around. And finally, make sure you apply to at least five or six schools because the ratio of applicants to the accepted can be 30:400!

Good luck!

As long as you get over an 1000 on your GRE (hopefully closer to 1100), your numbers are good. You should then focus on writing a great personal essay. Have as many people as you can look at it and critic it (especially PT's if possible). With all that and solid LOR's you should be in good shape to get invited to interviews. Good Luck!
