I know there are tons of "what are my chances" threads and even a sticky but I feel like my situation is weird and so need a little help.

I graduated high school with a 3.89 GPA and was ranked as 64 out of 1001 students, with a 90% scholarship to FDU. I had no clue about financial aid or that I could even take out loans so I could not attend due to tuition issues (FA office was a joke, no help).

I ended up attending my local community college where I enrolled as a nursing major. I did fine my first semester 3.5 GPA but the next three semesters I failed, I was in a very bad, abusive relationship and could not find my way out. I realized that even though I wanted to take care of patients nursing was not the model of care I would like to use. I became determined to transfer to a university as a biology major. I worked very hard for the next year taking full-time credits throughout fall, spring and summer. I ended raising my GPA to a 3.4. I am now done with my "junior" year; i say that because credit wise I'm a junior but major wise I am a sophomore, my GPA is now a 3.1 with a science GPA of 3.3.

I have been working as a patient care technician since I was 15 years old and currently work at two different hospitals in ICU and ER. As for EC's i'm a board member of our University Programing Board (Student Activities), Residence Hall Representative, I am also a summer college mentor for high school students in underprivileged areas. Lastly, I will be going to Egypt in December to work with Sudanese refugee children as part of an optional seminar in my minor which is Middle East studies as well as American studies.

So, my question is: what are my chances? I have always wanted to become a doctor and now that I have changed so much, I'm scared it won't happen. Any help is gladly appreciated.

With four more semesters until you graduate, I fiigure with a 3.8 until then, you'd end with a cGPA of 3.38. With a steep upward grade trend and a strong MCAT score of, say, 33+, you might get into an MD school. With a somewhat lower cGPA and a 30+ MCAT score, you might get into a Special Masters Program where excellent performance could override your uGPA.

It might be easier to just retake all the courses you did dismally in in order to take advantage of the AACOMAS (DO) grade forgiveness policy, where they only include the most recent grade when you retake, provided the credit hours are the same or greater. This could be the fastest, cheapest way to improve your application GPA and become competitive.
