Research? Shadowing? Volunteering? Or just taking it easy after the application cycle/gearing up for d-school?

As for me, I will be submitting my application June 1st, then taking it easy for the next couple months. I might do some research or I might just get some menial job to make some money. I'm really excited to just veg out and chill with my high school buddies back home.

I'm taking a break from the 'pre-dent' mindset for once and actually going to relax before I start dschool in august.

Definitely a good idea to take a break before school starts. I chose to work 60+ hr weeks for the 9 weeks between undergrad and D1. 🙁 Not fun. Great cash tho!

What kind of job would be good with a skillset like ours that would allow us to work a lot of hours and make good money over the summer?

I was thinking of tree planting for a few weeks... but I'm scared of spiders haha...

Animal husbandry? Any major research school will have lab animals that need cleaning up after and feeding. I did this in undergrad.

I have also heard that teaching Kaplan prep courses is somewhat lucrative.

You could also try a temp agency. Times are tough!

Stay active with something at least until you get in somewhere. Adcoms don't look highly on those who aren't doing something productive in their time. Now doesn't mean you have to bust your ass but be able to spin it convincingly that what you are doing is good for your future.

Personally now that I am in I will be a whitewater rafting guide for the summer. Chance to relax, workout, have fun, meet some new people, and get paid for it all 👍

leaving my job of 3 years at the end of May and going to Texas and South Carolina to sit on a beach somewhere 🙂

Relaxing basically, riding my bike, playing all kinds of outdoor sports games (it may even be grass hockey🙂), hanging out with my friends and family, collecting teeth and doing immunizations. If I have time during all this, I maybe take a look at my Anat?Physio book...but just a little peep 🙂

Man, I wish I was gearing up to start dschool in the fall already! I will be applying and studying for the DAT...maybe some research after I take it in July. :/

taking out a student loan to drink a lot of beer and do about 200 skydives. Then also wakeboarding and road trips. Paying off 5K in student loans will take about 2 weeks work after D school and to make 5K will take all summer. Work smart and play hard

leaving the military in early August, and starting college in late August too, so yeah i'm definitely taking it easy as much as I can.

I'll have about 3 weeks of vacation, and then i'll be a true pre-dental with a long road ahead of me heh.

I just decided on pre-dental last year, so I feel really behind. I still haven't done any shadowing, and I don't really have any LORs. And I also didn't start working on ECs until last year as well. My application right now would not be strong, especially since I don't have an amazing GPA. I haven't finished all the pre-reqs or upper-levels, and an extra year could help me raise my GPA (or lower it ) There are a lot of things I want to do before I apply, and I could also use the year off. I just don't feel prepared.
