Since everyone here seems to be so far ahead of me, I was wondering if anyone had some interview tips for me?

Also, I would like to know what are some of the common questions asked in interviews.

..Thanks..

Haha, I wouldn't trust that review set entirely!!

UCLA is an 8.74 for the cultural rating and USC is a 5.78 and yet the two are both in Los Angeles about 12 miles apart.

University of Maryland is a 7.4 (middle of the pack) for location rating, but I can tell you that inner city Baltimore is not the most stellar place in the world.

As for the original question from teems...
1. Give thorough, enthusiastic responses to questions
2. Have a list of reasons in mind why you are interested in the program with which you are interviewing
3. Expect questions about things you've done, things you wrote in your application/secondary, your expectations of medical school and being a physician, and your hobbies/personality. In addition, expect a few thinking questions about scenarios examining ethics, creativity, etc.
4. Ask questions of the interviewer if given the opportunity.
5. Don't be afraid to take a moment to think about your response to a question before you answer.

"Do you say "I made an A" or "I got an A"?"

Oh, and if you're nervous, be honest about that and take a moment to collect yourself. If you're nervous, try to be nervous because you really like the school and not because you don't like talking to people. 😉 If you feel like things are going south in the interview, understand that some interviewers (but not most) like to push your buttons and see if they can frazzle you or see how well you do under that pressure. If you feel like an interviewer is sort of setting in to you about one of your responses but you felt like it was an appropriate response, stick to your guns and don't let it get to you.

UMD is not really in the inner-city, while it does border it (considering the MLK to be the border of nice/not-so-nice areas). It's more accurate to call it as near the inner harbor, which is actually a pretty nice area (camden yards, aquarium, boating, ravens stadium, etc. etc.).

Hopkins, on the other hand, is most definitely in the inner city.

paper or plastic?
How many licks DOES ittake?
How far would you go to get into medical school? (the interviewer winks during this one)

I actually really enjoy the inner harbor area... I've been every few years since I was little for a ball game and some good crab.

Yeah, in my opinion those ratings are sort of pointless and mostly flawed. Make sure you don't base any real decisions off of them. But the interview feedback database on SDN does have a lot of useful info. It can help you get a grasp of what type of questions each school asks, interview format etc. So OP I would make sure to check it out.

1. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

2. How old am I?

3. Will you be my valentine?

4. If there are 15 apples on the table and I grab 9 of them, how many apples do I have?

1. He'd chuck all the wood that a woodchuck could if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

2. Uh... *Guesses, then takes 5 years off the guess and gives that answer*

3. Sorry, I'm engaged.

4. 9.
