What are the chances of getting an interview if the school puts you "on hold"?

I've got an email from Case Western Reserve Dental School, which said that the Admissions Committee have put my file on "hold" until they see my fall 2011 grades. is that a good thing or a bad thing? this is pre-interview. Does that mean I have to gun for a 3.7-4.0 GPA to prove to them that I am worthy or what? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I think you answered your own question...

Obviously they feel that your grades are lacking in some way to put you on hold FOR grades...whatever your current situation is you should be aiming to blow your grades out of the park and score a semester GPA of a 4.0 or something much higher than what you currently have to make an impression.

Shouldn't you always be aiming for a 4.0??...and if you got a 3.85 then, well, you gave it your best shot...

I would print out that page and show all your teachers with the message that your future career and livelihood lies in their hands, and thus if you are a borderline A/A- grade, then they need to hook a brotha up.

I told all my recommenders that I either go to dental school or become a garbage man. That surely motivated them lol.
