Heu giys - in my quest to keep my nice, very pretty, color-coded medical school excel sheet as accurate as possible / in order to waste as much time as possible, I like to get the LizzyM scores for the schools.

There seem to be some small disparities between the original "selector" file created by LizzyM herself (thanks!) and the open-source SDN matriculant data that's being updated continually.

Basically, I'm just wondering which of these two files would have the most accurate, and most importantly, most recent data on the MCAT and GPA scores of accepted/matriculating students.

What is this LizzyM thing? I saw it elsewhere as well..

The formula is basically MCAT+GPA*10

It's often cited on these forums as a way to figure out which schools would be good stats wise to apply to. It's a way to get a rough estimation of which schools you could consider as targets, reach, dream, safeties etc.

LizzyM came up with the formula not the school selector spreadsheet itself afaik.

The most recent uniform data would be in the MSAR or US News. If you want to use data for accepted students, then use MSAR. If you want data for matriculants, then use US News. The SDN spreadsheet is a great free resource but it's unfortunately limited by the information that schools provide, which may be a few years old.

I would think that the information provided in the MSAR for accepted students would be best for several reasons, but the differences should be slight in any case.

Like the others said, the best, most recent data us available from MSAR and US News. Unfortunately, that data needs to be purchased and therefore cannot be published publicly in the open SDN spreadsheet. So the spreadsheet only uses publicly available data.

The best option would be to download the open SDN spreadsheet and use it as a template to fill in data from US News/MSAR for the schools you're interested in.

The *real* question is, is 1 point on the MCAT really worth 0.1 GPA points? Or is 10 just a nice round number?

I see...interesting. Thanks.
