What are the most challenging specialties? (Intellectually, emotionally, etc.)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
for me personally, i dont think i'd be able to handle the emotional aspect of Oncology. Seems depressing to me, but then again there are a lot of specialties I dont think I'd enjoy doing.

Intellectually - nephrology

Physically/Dexterity - probably some kind of nuero surgery but who knows

Emotionally - ped oncology

i honestly think i could stand a neurosurg residency: that would be physically category-- the residency at harborview (WA) is 10 years and about 110 hr weeks for atleast 4 years of it. good luck with that one.

any surgical specialty that does marathon surgery sessions are taxing physically even if you are with a team.

oncology is perhaps the emotional one

intellectually ... psychiatry!

Intellectually -Nephrology

Physically/Dexterity-Orthopedic Surgery(physically)/Neurosurg(dexterity)

Emotionally - Peds Onc

i want to go into oncology LOL

but yeah man seeing a dad with a huge tumor on the side of his neck/head is pretty damn sad. but these are the people i want to help.
