I have a strong feeling that Pfizer will create a "new" strength or perhaps a new formulation of Viagra such as XR in order to stay relevant for a few more years because any change in strength or release formulation will give Pfizer a few more years of exclusive marketing without worrying about a generic.

That's something they do before the generic comes out. Too late now.....
I am not sure if that's entirely true- I recall Claritin when it was RX only made the RediTab, but I will have to research to be sure.

With the exception of tadalafil, this whole drug class has pretty much been a battle of top it with regard to kinetics for peak onset. For the most part, nothing but me too drugs and a lack of innovation from big bad money hungry patent extending pharma.

I think people would totally be into either intra urethral or suppository form sildenafil (insert sarcasm)

Hard to imagine that they’ll make an XR but maybe they’ll do a Solutab? “Dissolves faster so it can go to work faster!”
Didn't they just come out with individually wrapped tablets? We had a rep try to sell us on it, and it just seemed laughably dumb.

No need to research. I gave talks for Schering and no Claritin oral tablets were first

I think somebody already does this - or maybe it was a compounding type pharmacy - but I heard adds for it on radio

"Viagra XR- now with phenylephrine rescue shot!"
Hah, keep in mind it has to be topical phenylephrine...(nasty)...or possibly intra cavernosal (even nastier). Hmmm the thought of rubbing one's penis in case of priapism just seems out there.
A+ for innovation, creativity, & absurdity

You can give oral sudafed to help. It often doesn't work but it often is used first line.
