What are you guys planning to do this summer to "beef up" your resumes?

This summer, I have one of two options:

1) Shadow abroad for 10 weeks (about 500 hours), assisting in a dental office and learning about a foreign health care system
2) Research at the UC Berkeley lab for 8 weeks as a lab assistant, working with school faculty

Which do you think would be more useful and why?

Would you be getting paid for #1? If so, do that.

Well, I just bought a sweet clinical gross anatomy flashcard set from the bookstore and am going to hit that like mad to get ahead before school starts. I'm hoping to get all of the head and neck anatomy memorized by summer at which point I can move onto the rest of gross anatomy. Just doing this because I obviously didn't take anatomy in my undergrad and I've got some catch-up to do for others who have already taken it. It's really quite fun though, the cards are awesome and I get a rush feeling like I'm getting ahead so early.

I would do number 1. It's dental related and it gives you a chance to go out and have fun.

barring an unlikely acceptance to and from the alternate list at UoP, and in the case of no other acceptances, I will likely be working my *** off toward an MS in biology. If I do get accepted somewhere, I will probably be busy packing and getting ready for the big move.

Lucky you. My school starts in June hence no summer.

Oh, I vote for the numero uno. BTW, where would you go for that shadowing abroad?

I'll be playing video games, reading, study anatomy as well and hanging out with the girlfriend.
