For example, multiple choice, short answer, essay, open-ended (such as math/physics/organic/chemistry), oral/practical, or whatever other testing methods are out there.
For me it's a tie-up between multiple choice and oral/practical. Multiple choice can be a godsend or a smiting from satan himself. For example in Physiology we'll have a multiple choice question A-E, and the question will be "which of the following is false" or "The following statements are shared by both Gs and Gq pathways, except Gq differs in the fact that ___." These types of questions don't make it easy to pick the "right answer" but you sort of have to go through all of them and reason why they are or aren't the answer, and worse yet is when there are two answers that could be possible but you have to choose the one that is "more right." And oral practical exams are just downright awful. I'm such a visual person that I freeze up when asked even basic questions (In Anatomy all my professor wanted from me for neuroanatomy was the 12 cranial nerves and I couldn't even do that. He told me to sit down, think about it, and come back when I was ready. I sat down for 10 seconds, wrote them out, went back up and told them to him. 🙁
So what's your least favorite type and why?
