I think that the med school's rep has taken a hit these last few years secondary to them almost going bankrupt and merging with Medstar. If their finances continue to improve though (as they are right now), I suspect that they will have either completely recovered or at least partially recovered by the time that you graduate. Their internal medicine residency program and therefore department recently lost the ability to do interventional cardiology which I think has really hurt this department in terms of reputation, but I don't think that any one department's reputation really matters in terms of matching for fellowship, particularly internal medicine. Even when it does matter (for small specialties like derm and rads), that's what away rotations are for. So, if you don't mind borrowing all that money, I think that it's probably a decent place to go to med school from a clinical perspective. The fourth year med students that I have met from there have all had positive things to say about their clinical and preclinical experience. If you can go somewhere cheaper though, I would go there simply because I don't think that the GT "name" holds very much weight in academic centers secondary to the reasons that I cited before.
