So I have been waitlisted at touro-ny but I heard they pull students off of their waitlist based on MCAT and more specifically the bio score. So I am hoping I will get the acceptance. Anyway...lets say I get in.

I live in manhattan...pretty close to the school. I could easily commute and it would take about 20-30 min from my apt to get to the school. The thing is there is a huge lack of study space available at the school and my home is not exactly the best place to get work done. Would it be worth taking out more in loans to get my own place so I have somewhere relatively quiet to do work?

Maybe some touro-ny students chime in on what they do because of the lack of study space available there?

my input...yes. A good argument could be made about finding a library, or something, nearby. But, if it were me, your own place, within 10-15 min of school or closer, and with study room, would be worth it.

Im sure its an expensive place to rent...how much/year would it be? $12,000-$14,000? Whatever it is, it will be a significant amount, but, for me, I'd do it.

I could commute to my dream school, but I would bite the bullet and take out loans to live alone/with other med school students. Living at home isn't conducive for studying and library can only do so much sometimes.

Why can't you study at home now? Figure that out first because some of the reason(s) might be the same in your new place.

1) My family works from home..they are there allll day.
2) I have little cousins that come over like every other day and they are loud/interrupting.
3) I've already been living here for 2 years and it is really getting to me.

Move. Your time in medical school is important as is your time outside of medical school. If you are stressed from non-med school stuff, you will crumble.

I would definitely find your own place if this is the case.

Wait and see what classmates you have, and who's amenable to sharing a bigger place, with better study amenities.

There's always the NY Public Library, or the libraries of the many of the colleges in Manhattan. Heck, don't forget about Sloan-Kettering. Rockefeller U, or Cornell Med!

If you can find a place to study away from home that would be ideal. Honestly, you can't beat free rent. Especially in Manhattan. Just use your home as a place to sleep and store your stuff.
