Hey everyone, I'm still a year away from applying but I would like to know how Im doing thus far.

Florida resident, attending a public state school

Asian, male

cGPA: 3.86
BCPM: 3.79

MCAT: Unknown, but assume its >80%ile (I dont plan on applying unless I score in that range)

EC's
-President/co-founder of an organization for 1 year
-Treasurer of another organization for 1 year
-Employed tutor/peer mentor for Biology and Chemistry courses (Gen Bio, Gen Chem, Orgo Chem) for 1 year
-Involvement in 2 other organizations (no leadership experience/not heavily involved) for ~1 year

Volunteering
-Hospital volunteering ~2 years ~220 hours atm, should have ~400 when applying
-Hospice ~1.5 years ~200-250 hours when applying
-Provided free tutoring through my organization to high school students in surrounding area ~1.5 year
~100-150 hours

Clinical experience
-Will work as a CNA for ~1 year (getting certification w/in 2 weeks)

Research
-3 months, no posters, no publications. I can continue to do it, but would prefer not to. ~300 hours

Planned events for the upcoming year
-quit research in order to work as a CNA
-Create another student organization that focuses on animals or something unrelated (hobby)
-Join two other organizations (one focuses on helping children with disabilities, the other is a hobby)
-Shadowing (~50-100 hours; how much is enough?)

I plan on applying to ~30 schools using the MSAR, and I dont plan on applying to reach schools (maybe 2-3 but thats it).

I would prefer to get into an MD school, but Im not opposed to going to NSU (DO) or another top ranked DO school.

What else should I be doing to maximize my chances of getting into a medical school?

P.s. Can I quit research or will having only 3 months be a red flag?

I would get more research experience. I would continue with your current project for at least a year, you want to create an application that will appeal to the broadest range of schools. Also, research does not have to be lab-based. Consider clinical research, or research in your major if you are a non-science major.
