Gunner thread is gunner.
Oh, well I'd like to have a Maserati Quattro. 😀

lol i hope none of the adcoms from med school saw this thread. it might lead to instant rejection from their med school.

Anytime you want 😉

He's 19??? Ask him what his insurance premiums are.... hahaha

:biglove:

Dude, he doesn't pay for anything. I wanted to kick him cause he was such a showoff.
Gosh, If I ever get kids, I'm making them work for their money.

I'll keep my Jeep Wrangler thank you.

I can do anywhere and do anything I want; and frankly what a waste to have a car that will comfortably drive 100+ in a country where you can't go over 80 without getting stopped. I can do that in my Jeep 🙂

I think I'll keep my Tercel wagon. Where else am I going to find an off-road station wagon with a pitch/roll indicator on the dashboard? This thing is built to last, and anyhow, it would be a shame to get rid of it after I just finished painting it.

Prius. Being well-paid doesn't mean you can't save money too.

I'm sorry, but Priuses are absolutely ridiculous. By the time you pay the extra $8,000 for a Prius instead of a Corolla, you've negated any value the car has, economically speaking.

Yes, hybrids are a good thing in that they're forcing people to think about how much gas we're using, but at such a monetary premium that they make zero sense and I'd hate to be seen driving one.

I don't see the point in buying a car over 100k. I'd be scared ****less everytime I left it in a parking lot.

That being said...
BMW X6

I'll probably buy a run of the mill Lexus or something. Something comfortable that feels nice and semi-luxurious inside but doesn't draw attention.

I have no reason to get a sports car, I don't drive fast and I'd be too scared of wrecking it to drive fast anyway.

Why are you posting pictures of cars from video games. Why not the real cars. Spyker looks ugly as hell in real life.

Oh and I just want the funds to drop a corvette V8 into my miata.

Frankly, I think it's worth it to pollute less, if I can afford to pollute less. The reason to buy a hybrid or electric isn't for money savings - if you just want to save money, get an old stick shift hatchback, they get practically the same mileage as a Prius and although they might break down from time to time you're only laying out a few thousand out front.

But not putting more smog into the air... that's something worthwhile. You're doing that for the next generation.

Secondly: How much money one saves or doesn't based on gas mileage is entirely dependent on commute length / miles driven per year. Right now, for instance, I drive about 5,000 miles per year, at 20 mpg = 250 gallons of gas = $1,000. So if I had a car that got 45 mpg, I'd be saving a bit under $600 a year.

If I were commuting further and driving, say, 15,000 miles a year, going from 20 mpg to 45 mpg would make a savings of about $1,700 yearly, which does earn itself back eventually. (Also, the resale value is greater, so you can make some of that extra price tag back when you're done with it.)

Plus, when it comes down to it, there's really no reason to buy a new car rather than a slightly used car still under warranty, other than customization and/or the desire to impress your friends with how willing to pay unnecessary amounts of money you are.

Anyway. I intend to get a hybrid or electric, mildly used, and do so probably on financing whenever driving all the time becomes a necessity, whether that's in med school, internship/residency, or later.

I just can't imagine wanting a sports car... the maintenance and insurance costs are CRAZY, and if I wanted to burn tons of petrochemicals for no reason I'd just take up pyromania. 😀

The thing I'm looking forward to the most is being able to buy durable gas-guzzlers and then squeezing the pump as long as I want--without having to give a care in the world about how much it is costing me.
