I was just looking at the Columbia DPT admission pre-reqs and it says, "8 credits of general biology".
I was wondering, does this basically just mean Biology I and Biology II with labs, or do other classes like human physiology count as biology as well?

Sorry if this is a silly question. Im just having a hard time fitting bio II into my schedule while also fulfilling all of my major-related courses and other pre-reqs!

Yes, that usually means Biology I and II with labs, but you should contact the school to confirm that if you aren't able to find a definitive answer on their website.

The courses for biology usually include general biology, intro to biology, cell biology, or other equivalents. Academic advisors at your school should be able to help you evaluate the courses that are available to you as well as to see if they are appropriate for a graduate school preparation. In most biology departments at most institutions, there are only one or two courses available to undergraduate students who are looking for pre professional preparation. You should look at the course description and many times it will state that it is for students looking to go into the allied health professions such as physical therapy.

The PTCAS school directory often lists other courses that a school accepts as Biology (or specifies ones they don't).

I'll confirm that it's Gen Bio I/II, but separate distinct courses are reviewed on a case by case basis. If you send the course titles along with the course descriptions to the program admissions coordinator, she will confirm if the courses meet the admissions criteria. Anatomy/Physiology are also required (separate) prerequisites.

I was able to take Neuroanatomy as a Bio requirement for 10 schools I applied to (yes, I did not research well and applied to 10). They also let me take microbiology to fulfill the requirement as well. I opted to take Bio 1 and neuroanatomy (with lab) for mine. Call the schools, and also make sure the units are fulfilled.
