I was just accepted to D school Dec. 1
I Have not had Microbiology or Histology or Pathology in undergrad.
I was thinking of taking one or more of these this summer. What would you in dental school think would be most beneficial, or is there a different class that would be most important?

Thanks for your input🙂

micro or path or both. histology is like anatomy, just keep looking an picutres. no need to get prepared for that. either way, they will teach u everything they want u to know but i think it would be a good thing to have a foundation in micro and path.

But pathology is based on the fact that you know what tissues look like normally...so histology is essentially a fundamental course for path. I think I would suggest microbiology. Histo or path would also be useful, but I think micro would be most beneficial.

well I will probably take a micro class b4 next yr then...

Seriously, I would take like "Intro to Basketweaving" and "Tennis & Golf."

Take some fun ones like "Music of Brazil" or "Bars of Ireland".

Have fun, enjoy college before you get worked over for 4 years.

I agree with taking micro..I didn't have it coming in and wish I had. I'm doing fine in the class, but I think I'm having to put a bit more time in than those that had some background in it. Would I kill my last long summer to take it? Nope...enjoy the time while you can.

for me, ANATOMY. I had never taken an anatomy class in my life before dental school and that class was just overwhelming.

If you do not know then take a class on how to enjoy your free time...LOL

I would find out if your dental school allows you to test out of certain classes. For example, at OHSU, if you took Histology and got an A on your transcript, you had the option of testing out of the class altogether.
Those in my class that decided to test out have extra free time! I wish I would've known!
